Your grades shouldn’t dictate your happiness
College is one of the coolest, grandest adventures we take on as humans. It can be stressful to find a perfect balance of relationships, grades, and plain old LIFE but God calls us to rejoice no matter the circumstance. We serve a good God who rejoices in our happiness. Psalm 5:11 says,
“But let all who take refuge in You be glad, let them ever sing for joy; and may You shelter them, that those who love Your name may exult you.”
You are exactly where you’re supposed to be.
It’s easy to question our surroundings when we’re in a new place, a new year, or a new season of our life. But the book of Esther is a GAME CHANGER with this kind of heavy load. She is faced with circumstances that seem impossible to overcome, unchangeable by just one person. But, she is reminded she is exactly where she’s supposed to be. God’s plan for us is a million and ten times more wonderful than any we can imagine for ourselves. What feels like a rut can be a groove, and the Lord’s timing is a huge testament to that. As cheesy as this saying maybe, everything happens for a reason.
“And who knows whether you haven ot come to the Kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14
Give your fears to God… He can handle it!
One of the coolest parts about serving our God is that His grace and His mercy means that all fears we have are eliminated. He is in total control! Psalm 46:10 says,
“Be still, and know that I am God!” Some translations of the Bible read, “Cease striving, and know that I am God!”
This means we can let go and let God do the work. He takes our biggest burdens, our dirtiest slates and wipes them all clean. With the Lord, there is no reason to fear the smallest or the biggest of problems. This is one of the best things you can remind yourself of going into the school year. God’s got my back. Write it in your planner or on a post-it and stick it to your bathroom mirror as a reminder in the morning or throughout the day. “Be still, and know that I am God!” He’s got this.
I know personally that college can be a lot of judging yourself against others. It is so easy to get focused on comparing yourself to everyone around you. But why are we busy comparing ourselves and bringing oneself down when He made each and everyone one of us unique and beautiful in His own eyes. Instead of focusing on what others have, remember that YOU are just as great as everyone else around you.
“You are altogether beautiful, my darling there is no flaw in you.” Song of Sol 4:7
When in doubt
Your school year is going to be AMAZING. These are some of the best years of your life where you meet your best friends, your people, your tribe. There’s gonna be highs, lows, and in-betweens but enjoy every second of where you are. Whether you feel like you’re on a mountain or you’re in a valley.. talk to God! Pray about your circumstances, thank Him for the good in your life, and ask Him to help you understand the bad. A great reminder is this lil’ reminder, “have you prayed about it as much as you’ve talked about it?” God is your confidant and your Savior. Go to Him whether you’re feeling triumpant or troubled. Lean on His everlasting arms!
