My Top 10 Worship Songs
I love finding new worship songs that will instantly lead me into the presence of the Lord. I enjoy singing with others at church, conferences, worship nights, college services, etc. but I think it is incredibly important to have one on one time singing to the Lord. There’s something special about being in your room alone singing to Him. Before you tell me you’re not the greatest singer, please know I am not either and that doesn’t stop me from worshiping through song.
In high school I read Luke 19:40, “Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these (people) were silent, the very stones would cry out.”” I don’t know about you but I have a mouth. If a mouthless rock will cry out to the Lord, it’s ideal that I do too. Today I wanted to share 10 songs that you may or may not have heard and hope they can become some of your favorite.
1. “Mighty Cross” by Elevation Worship
I heard this song and repeated it several times because I really believe the lady leading believes what she is singing. There’s something beautiful in hearing a song but turning on your spiritual ears to really hear the song. What I mean by this is: not everyone who sings a worship song has an intimate relationship with the Lord. As you and I grow in our relationship in the Lord, the difference becomes more and more evident.
2. “The Ninety Nine” by Citipointe Live
There are few songs I have enjoyed for years at a time but this is one of my timeless favorites. It came out four years ago and the lyrics still encourage me.
“Hear the mountains tremble
Our God is strong and able
Your kingdom coming down.”
Honestly the bridge is my favorite but I want you to listen to the song to hear it.
3. “Need You More” by Will Reagan
Will Reagan and the United Pursuit Band. What gifts. I remember seeing them in concert several years ago and up until that point, I had never experienced the Lord’s presence as strongly as I did that night. There are few people who put language to what Holy Spirit is currently saying to His people and I believe Will and United Pursuit are among those people.
4. “Love Come In” by Bread & Wine
I love the line: “Where there is love, there is no room for fear” We grow up believing the opposite of love is hate but 1 John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” This verse made me think.. “Hey! What if the opposite of love is fear?”
5. “Seek First” by Housefires
This song is such a sweet reminder for me to do what Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” The Lord never said seek me sometime on your list of things to do. He said, “Seek me first.” You can have every intention to love the Lord with some part of your life, but He desires to be your number one priority.
6. “Holy Spirit” by Bryan and Katie Torwalt
You probably know this song. You’ve probably sung it 50-100 times in the course of your life, but Holy Spirit always shows up when I sing this song and I love that.
7. “Christ Be Revealed” by Free Worship
Youtube recommended this song to me and I want to personally thank it.
“Christ Be revealed
Break every chain
Kingdoms will bow
At the mention of your name”
8. “Whisper His Name / The Name of the Lord” by William McDowell
One time someone told me when you do not know what else to do… just repeatedly say Jesus.
9. “One Thirst” by Bethel Music
“Come teach us Lord, reveal Your ways,
Anoint us, for the greater things.”
These two lines teach me several things. First off, if you need a Teacher.. God is and will be that. Psalm 32:8, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” If you need something revealed, the Revealer will show you what is to come. Psalm 16:11, You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” He is the anointing we need and we can ask Him for it.
10. “What a Beautiful Name” by Hillsong Worship
I could sing this all day long and be content.
Thank you for reading through and listening to my favorites. What are yours? Feel free to let me know in the comments below!
