Get to Know our New Executive Director

Hi Delight community,

I am so – dare I say, delighted – to be here! (I love a good pun.)

My first 6 weeks at Delight have been so exciting as I’ve gotten to know Mac, Kenz, and our five Regional Directors. I dove right in last month during our Regional Director Training and annual Leadership Conference – both events were such a fun way to immerse myself in learning all about the ministry and the Delight chapters across the country!

I am so inspired by the passion of the young women on our staff and in our chapters, and I’m truly honored to now be part of this growing organization.

I want to share just a bit about me and invite you to connect with me. I truly believe the Lord has guided me and opened doors that led me to this position. After attending MTSU, I started working as well as volunteering at nonprofits in Nashville. This eventually led to working at several different nonprofits around town and pursuing my Master of Organizational Leadership. I never really set out to work in the nonprofit community, but I love that this is how my story has unfolded!

My husband Adam and I met in 2003 at MTSU and were good friends for many years before we began dating. We just celebrated our fourth anniversary! We love traveling as much as possible, going to concerts, and trying new restaurants. My stepson Connor is nine and has taught me all about the Avengers, Ninja Turtles, and nerf gun battles!

I’m looking forward to getting to know our community as I continue to get settled. Please email me anytime if you have any questions, would like to connect with me, or just want to say hello. You can also follow my Delight Instagram account (@delightmelanie). Thank you for your support of Delight Ministries!

Here at Delight, we love questions and how they help us get to know each other! Mac and Kenz decided to ask Melanie a couple of their favorite questions to ask within the Delight community.
#1 Where did you go to college? What was your major?
Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN – go Blue Raiders! My major was Journalism, and I love to write and edit!

#2 What’s your favorite college memory?

During the last two years of college, I was part of a small group with about 8-10 people. We would get together at one friend’s house every Tuesday, cook dinner together, and then spend time discussing whatever reading we’d done that week in a devotional book we picked to study. These people were some of my closest friends during this season of life, and it was so special to do life with them and know we were all praying for and supporting one another.

#3 What does “delight” mean to you?
One of my favorite verses with the word “delight” in it is Zephaniah 3:17: “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” The fact that our God DELIGHTS in us, even when we’re not perfect, even when we let Him down, even when times are rough? WOW! “Delight” is such a positive and happy word, and I think it’s one of many words that describes God’s unconditional love for us and the love we are called to show Him and others.
