“He who started good work in you will carry it to completion.”

Philippians 1:6

Before discovering Delight Ministries, I spent my first two college years at Malone University. I loved it there, but I wasn’t quite satisfied with my studies or the atmosphere. My relationship with Jesus wasn’t as strong at the time, and it felt as though something was missing. Towards the end of my sophomore year, my parents suggested that I transfer to Kent State University to pursue a fashion merchandising major and a public relations minor.

The next year, I made the move to Kent State. Entering a whole different environment was scary, and at first, I felt lonely and anxious. I was hoping to find a group that would help me make new friends, stay connected with Jesus, and deepen my faith. Ironically, God had a plan and he opened a door.  A conversation my mother had with her friend about her daughter and her experience with “this wonderful girls ministry group” introduced me to Abby. Within weeks, Abby and her roommate Katie introduced me to the Delight chapter at the University of Akron, and my life changed for good.

I immediately fell in love with Delight. I was welcomed and loved by all the girls who I now am proud to call my sisters in Christ, and I looked forward to every single meeting. A year and a half later, I’m now on the Akron chapter’s leadership team and running their social media platforms. I get to help lead meetings and community events with the leaders as well as connect with all the other girls in the chapter. I am so grateful to Abby and Katie for introducing me to Delight and for their amazing friendship. I consider Mac and Kenz two of my biggest role models because I wouldn’t be where I am now if it weren’t for the impact of Delight Ministries.

Next year, a few of my friends and I are excited to start a Delight chapter at Kent State University to bring more girls to God! We want to keep the movement of the ministry going and witness women come to dedicate their lives to Jesus. I want to encourage you to join the movement! If your college campus doesn’t have one, it would be amazing if you were the person to start a chapter on your campus and invite more women to join. We Delight girls thrive on seeing more chapters come to life all over the nation!

Here are three reasons as to why we believe that YOU should start a chapter…

1.) Being a part of a Christ-centered community

Community is an important aspect of everyone’s college experience. Being a part of a community that’s focused on Jesus is not only super important, but also rare to find on most campuses.  It’s easy to feel lonely as a newbie in the world of college and it is difficult to find valuable, well-intentioned groups on campus. Starting a Delight chapter would give like-minded girls an opportunity to grow with Jesus, learn more about Him, and develop long-lasting friendships in the context of Christ-centered community.

2.) Vulnerability

It’s important to be vulnerable and transparent with ourselves, with others, and especially with God. Nobody is perfect, only He is perfect. I’ve never been super vulnerable before becoming a member of Delight. However, since joining the chapter, I’ve become more open about any struggles I’m facing, with both my Delight friends and other friends. Whenever I’m having a rough day, my gal pals in my chapter always make me feel better and say prayers for me, and I love doing the same for them. This vulnerability has allowed me to develop friendships and bond with my Delight girls who accept me just as I am. Everyone should have a place for acceptance and vulnerability.

3.) Transforming stories

I’ve heard a lot of people claim that they don’t have stories about their life. I, however, think the exact opposite. I believe everyone has a story to tell. Delight is one of God’s many ways of helping girls share their stories, encourage others, and transform lives. It’s amazing to look back on my life and see how He has helped me transform into who I am now, and I love listening to girls share stories of how God has worked in their lives to do the same! When we surrender all to Him, we let Him transform our stories into something to share to the world!

WHEN WE SURRENDER.jpg

Delight Ministries has blessed me in so many ways I never would have imagined. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today if I had never joined the chapter at Akron. I’m grateful for Jesus and all the girls involved in this national organization, and am so excited to bring a new chapter to Kent State next fall! I hope you feel encouraged by the ways God has worked through Delight in my life and that you feel called to start a Delight chapter on your campus!

Have a blessed day!

XOXO,

Caroline

About the Author

Hey, y’all! My name is Caroline, and I am a junior fashion merchandising student at Kent State University. My passions include fashion (which is why I’m majoring in it!), traveling, blogging, cuddling with my dogs, coffee dates, and of course, Jesus! I love writing because it allows me to express myself in a clear, passionate way. I believe God gave me the ability to write and share stories through creative platforms such as blogging and journaling. I want thank Him for that by writing about how much I love Him, and I want to encourage others to do the same! I love hearing women share their stories about how God has transformed their lives. It’s so surreal to be a part of their journey and watch them grow as a daughter of the Mighty King. That’s what I think of when I think of girl power!
