For the Girl With A Racing Mind
Why is it that sometimes it seems our minds will never shut off?
Concerns of the unclear future ahead weigh you down, regrets from the past creep in day after day, the to do list seems too long and overwhelming, or anticipation of the future sets in, all sometimes causing you to think the worst will come. You may find nothing helps to calm your mind or shut off these racing thoughts, why is that?
“Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless. With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies” Psalm 108:12-13.
The Lord longs to give us a steadfast mind and to break all strongholds and obsessive thoughts put above him. A steadfast mind cannot be achieved through human reason; it can only be gained by trusting and resting in the Lord.
“For the Lord is good and his love endures forever. His faithfulness continues through all generations” Psalm 100:5.
Imagine your backpack during finals week, stuffed with textbooks, notebooks, pens, laptops, chargers, snacks; my back is already starting to hurt just thinking of it! Now imagine sorting through everything after finals, tossing out all of the old supplies; walking around with a lighter load right? Try doing the same thing with the thoughts that race through your head and weigh you down. Give every single one to God, over and over, every time they creep in. After giving these thoughts to the Lord, trust in your heart that he has you, he will never leave his child alone and will never withhold any good gifts. He loves you and wants to take all of your racing thoughts and give you rest, he wants you to walk around more free, light, and filled with his spirit. He has gone before you and will never leave you.
The enemy uses weaknesses personalized in our lives to bring us down. When a thought that is not of God creeps in, ask him to hold this thought captive. Our biggest weapon to fight our battles is the armor of God.
The Lord is always with you and will comfort you during difficult times, he is calling you to rest and to place your trust in him, and not to worry. He promises perfect peace to all who trust in him; his hand is reaching out for you.
“The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.
The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time.
You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does.
The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth”
